I don't want to be giving a wrong impression in these blog posts. Having a list is a great idea, but I don't believe God is just some vending machine. However, I know how easy it can be to have my prayer life function like He is one. It can be easy to make a prayer list and then, in the haste of wanting to "get through it" just take the time to pray for/about those things.
So, knowing this can be a problem here are some thoughts/thoughts about keeping ourselves from this really bad habit.
C.A.T.S.
Confession
Adoration/praise
Thanksgiving
Supplication
Notice that on this list saying "thank you" and asking for things (either for yourself or for others) are the last two things. We need to ensure we don't have sin that we need to confess and we need to just spend time praising God for who He is. Recognizing his holiness and love. We have a two-way relationship with God...not just a "vending machine" relationship.
To God be the glory.
