Well, this isn't going to be the part 2 that I had in mind, but God works that way sometimes.
Wanting to be in control often means wanting to simply do things my way. Sometimes I'll thank God when it's over, but often I completely forget him during the process.
We have been working on a matching grant for our adoption, as many of you know. Today someone contacted Pam to ask how much we had left to complete the grant because they wanted to help us out. Pam told them. Then she told me about the conversation.
Then, in the course of our conversation, my comment was something like, "This grant has been a different test of faith. I've had to talk to God and tell him that it is OK if he doesn't fill this grant because we want HIM to provide for our needs. We know that he may very well NOT do that through this grant. We know that he will provide for us, we just don't know how."
Then, they answered the e-mail and said how much they wanted to give toward our grant. Then Pam responded and clarified because she thought they might have mis-keyed something. Then they replied and clarified that they had NOT mis-keyed anything.
Then Pam cried.
God allowed a moment of a control freak remembering to let go to bless us in an amazing way.
Our matching grant is done. It was at 24% this morning and it is now completely DONE!!
Praise God from whom all of our blessings come!!
May the rest of you control freaks be blessed by this and encouraged to give God control. He knows so much better what is best for us than we ever could.
"Thank you God for blessing my family today. Even more so, thank you for continuing to teach me about letting go of my control issues and allowing you to be in control of my life and my family."
