I had family here tonight so I don't have many thoughts about prayer and need to get to bed. The one thing that God did bring to mind today was praying for other generations. This can look different for all of us:
Within your family or outside your family.
An older generation, a younger generation, or both.
Parents, children, nieces and nephews, or grandchildren.
Neighbors.
Neighbor children.
Families at church.
Co-workers.
People walking outside where you work.
The checker at the grocery store.
The anchor on the news.
The announcer of the Olympics.
So many people with so many needs. So, why my thoughts on praying for a generation other than your own? I think we tend to get stuck in the mindsets of our own generation. Right? These are our peers. Many think the way we think and/or think about things similarly to the way we do. But older generations and younger generations have a new (or old) way of looking at things that can be really helpful. So, by praying for them, it steps your mind outside of your age demographic and can allow you to remember the rest of the world and its people...and its ways of thinking!
We live in a culture of self-focus and self-love. This is meant to be a way to step us out of that and get into the minds and needs of other people around us!
To God be the glory.
