Last time, we look at the first 6 verses of chapter 5. Now let's look at the next section.
I find it very interesting that verse 7 looks at God's love (which is how we approach Him) and our reverence toward God (which our fear of him should cause). These two concepts (God's steadfast love and the fear of God that drives us to our knees) seem to be two concepts that are rarely talked about together.
Think about it. We either talk about the great love of God or we talk about our fear of God that should cause the kind of reverence that makes us get on our knees when we talk to Him.
So, which is it? Do we have a God who loves us so much that we can go before Him. Or do we have a God who is so mighty and awe inspiring that we should be bowing because of our fear of Him?
YES!!! That's the good news. He is such a great God that He both loves us, and should command our respect because of how great and loving He is. It is not two separate ideas, but rather a single concept and looking at two facets of who God is!!
To God be the glory!
